To tackle the LuxBrew hometask, I followed a hybrid process combining principles of User-Centered Design (UCD) and the Design Sprint framework. My goal was to create a premium, intuitive experience that aligns with the expectations of luxury coffee enthusiasts while remaining technically feasible and focused on user value.

User-Centered Design

I began by simulating user research to understand key personas: their motivations, routines, frustrations, and expectations around coffee rituals. These insights informed every design decision, from the onboarding flow to the AI-driven personalization features.

Key UCD activities included:

Design Sprint principles

To work efficiently, I adopted key phases of the Design Sprint:

  1. Understand: Defined the problem, the context of use, and the user’s lifestyle.
  2. Sketch: Outlined flows for onboarding, pairing, brewing, and shopping.
  3. Decide: Prioritized features using the MoSCoW method, focusing on what delivers the most value.
  4. Prototype: Created high-fidelity designs to simulate a realistic, luxurious app experience.

Outcome

This approach ensured that every element—from the pairing process to the AI recipe assistant—felt intentional, elegant, and user-driven, reflecting LuxBrew’s brand promise: a seamless and sophisticated coffee journey.
